چکیده

INTRODUCTION Wellens' syndrome, also called left anterior descending (LAD) coronary T-wave syndrome, is a characteristic electrocardiographic (ECG) pattern suggestive of coronary artery disease in the preinfarction stage. [1–3] ECG changes in Wellens' syndrome may signify critical stenosis in the proximal LAD coronary artery. [1–5] Furthermore, ECG changes may occur during a pain-free period with no other evidence of ischemia or unstable angina and none to minimal elevation of cardiac enzyme levels. [3,5] Hence, recognition of the aforementioned pattern is important in preventing the development of a devastating anterior wall myocardial infarction. [2–5]

Wellens’ syndrome with segmental wall-motion abnormalities

Wellens' syndrome is a pattern of electrocardiographic T-wave changes associated with critical, proximal left anterior descending (LAD) artery stenosis. We herein report 2 cases of Wellens' syndrome with segmental wall-motion abnormalities The first case is a 50-year-old man admitted to the emergency department with typical chest pain. Admission ECG showed biphasic T waves in leads V1-V3 with i...

Wellens' syndrome.

We describe a patient with Wellens' syndrome. In view of the large area of myocardium at risk, the importance of recognizing the significance of this ECG pattern is of critical importance for the emergency physician, especially those involved in the evaluation of patients at emergency department chest pain centers. Wellens' syndrome, the criteria for diagnosis, and a discussion of its implicati...

Wellens' Syndrome – Report of two cases

Wellens' Syndrome is a pattern of electrocardiographic T-wave changes associated with critical, proximal left anterior descending (LAD) artery stenosis. Diagnostic criteria of Wellens' Syndrome are history of chest pain, little or no cardiac enzyme elevation, little or no ST-segment elevation, no loss of precordial R waves, no pathologic precordial Q waves and typical T-wave changes. Urgent car...

Atypical Presentation of Acute Coronary Syndrome and Importance of Wellens’ Syndrome

BACKGROUND Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a common and potentially life-threatening condition encountered in emergency departments. Despite its dreaded nature, nearly one-third of ACS present without chest pain and may mislead clinicians. Additionally, Wellens' syndrome is a pre-infarction stage of significant proximal left anterior descending (LAD) artery stenosis, which can lead to extensiv...

Wellens' syndrome in a female patient presenting to emergency room after resolving exercise-induced chest pain.

Wellens' syndrome, also known as the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary T wave syndrome, is a potentially under-recognized syndrome in emergency room, which can have potentially fatal consequences. It usually consists of typical electrocardiography (ECG) finding in precordial leads that represents significant stenosis of the proximal LAD. Although the syndrome is not included in indication...
